Spaced Repetition
Spaced Repetition
Reviewing material at expanding intervals beats massed study (cramming) for long-term retention. Each successful recall pushes the next review further out; a lapse shortens it. The technique exploits the spacing effect and the testing effect — retrieval itself, not re-reading, is what strengthens the memory trace.
For a knowledge vault this is the bridge between capturing a note and owning the idea. Atomic Notes are the natural review unit: one idea per card maps cleanly onto one prompt. A vault without a review habit accumulates write-only notes — stored, never re-encoded.
